INTRODUCTION

Experts Design Manufacturing (EDM) is specialized in Product Development, Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing Support. Our mission is to help companies to turn ideas into manufacturable product in a short lead time so they can distribute their products on their market at light speed while staying ahead the competition.

Strategically located both in China and in France, we are able to source, audit and meet local Asian suppliers. This give us advantage to be able to solve and troubleshot issue quickly and efficiently on site, so the supply chain related operations can be managed smoothly.

Our company was established in China to help Western companies design and manufacture quality products while leveraging local supply and manufacturing ecosystem. Early on, we knew the importance of being price affordable without fading on quality. We quickly understood that the only way to truly leverage Asian manufacturing was to design and develop products in China. Not only could we benefit local components supply ecosystem, but we could also optimize our design so they can perfectly fit manufacturing process requirement.

Early in 2009, we started by sourcing and purchasing finished products from chinese manufacturers. Quickly we realized the importance of controlling tightly the supply chain. It was particularly true regarding components and material procurement and manufacturing process control.

We recognized the importance to fully immerge ourselves into manufacturing process understanding so we could fully assist our manufacturers to solve problems they were not capable to solve themselves. This is at this time that our engineering skills came into place and revealed their usefullness…

Our multicultural team is voluntary founded on the fundamental base of taking advantages of the best skills of each experts in his background and from its culture.

We voluntary combine western knowledge of overseas market for product design, manufacturing, quality control and certification with local knowledge of custom, business manner and market for procurement, sourcing, tooling, logistics, taxes and HR.

OUR COMPANY HISTORY

2009

Our company was created by engineers owning Master Degree in Engineering, Master in Business Administration, Six Sigma Green certification, Quality Engineering certification issued  by the American Society of Quality and ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification. The company took the form of a sourcing company contracted to help overseas companies and organizations to identify Chinese suppliers capable to manufacture products. Most of activities were related to supplier identification, vendor audit and reporting.

2010

We extended our activities to supply chain building for our clients. We became a buying agency in charge of managing the whole sourcing and procurement flow form A to Z for our clients. Activities were including sourcing, vendor audit, document contracting, vendor coaching and briefing, production monitoring and follow up, quality inspection, lab testing management and logistic.

2012

Face to our customers requests, we decided to extend our activities to product development and adaption in cooperation with chinese manufacturers. Whereas previously we were supposed to perform merchandisoing of OEM products, now our company extend its activities in developping and launching manufacturing of new products by leveraging local manufacturers skills, capabilities, human ressources and infrastructures.  Particularly, activities included product development and manufacturing with plastic, metal, and electronic manufacturers.

2013

Discovering that most of manufacturers didn’t actually perform engineering themselves, but rather were sub-contracting those crucial and strategic activities to other third parties, we decided to embrace the engineering ecosystem and perform product development with local engineering companies. We would then push the results of those engineering activities to manufacturers for mass production. The control of the supply chain and project management was reinforced and better managed.

2014

Because Chinese business model of engineering companies didn’t allow us to control enough the engineering process, we decided to integrate the product development activities in-house by internalizing mechanical design, pcb design and firmware coding. Most of the engineering phase was now performed in-house and allowed us to have full control on the bill of material of all new projects being developped. It also allowed us to have full control on intellectual property and information disclosure.

2015

We set up a micro production line aiming to get product final assembly of small sized products under our own roof, allowing to control quality, intellectual property and speed delivery.
